CIO Advocates for Digital Transformation and Youth Empowerment at YouthIGF Liberia Program
Monrovia, Liberia – During the recent Youth Internet Governance Forum (IGF) held at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Republic of Liberia, Mr. Sheikh Sheriff, emphasized the critical need for digital literacy and the establishment of a functional e-government to modernize public services in the country.
In his address, Mr. Sheriff highlighted the ongoing efforts to develop policies that will lead to a robust e-government system. He also stressed the importance of an independent CIO office, equipped with the authority and resources necessary to lead Liberia’s digital transformation.
He further noted that Digital literacy is essential for the future of Liberia, especially for our youth who are the backbone of our nation’s progress. He encouraged young Liberians to seize opportunities that come their way, emphasizing that technology holds the power to drive innovation and progress in the country.
Mr. Sheriff reaffirmed his commitment to working with the youth, urging them to focus on creating a brighter future for Liberia. The future of Liberia is not bound by negativity; it is shaped by the potential we harness today. Together, we can create a better Liberia.
He informed the youth that the CIO’s office remains open and accessible to all young people, as part of our mission to empower the youth and ensure a prosperous and technologically advanced Liberia.
