Introduction
In an increasingly digital world, the need for robust cybersecurity measures has never been more critical. The proposed legal framework aims to address the growing threat of cybercrimes in Liberia by establishing comprehensive guidelines for prohibiting, preventing, detecting, prosecuting, and punishing such offenses. This framework also seeks to protect critical national information infrastructure and promote overall cybersecurity, ensuring a safer digital environment for all citizens.
- Objectives: Establishes a legal framework for prohibiting, preventing, detecting, prosecuting, and punishing cybercrimes in Liberia. It also aims to protect critical national information infrastructure and promote cybersecurity.
- Offences and Penalties: Lists various cybercrimes such as unauthorized access, cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, and identity theft, along with their respective penalties.
- Procedural Law: Details the procedures for preserving computer data, conducting searches and seizures, and intercepting electronic communications.
- Administration and Enforcement: Establishes the Liberia National Cybersecurity Center (LNCC) and the Liberia Cybersecurity Emergency Response Team (LCERT) to oversee cybersecurity measures and responses.
